A Coca Cola ad is prominent on the hillside across from our hotel. Honduras is the country where the term `banana republic` was first coined, because of the influence on the country`s affairs by the US fruit companies Chiquita and Dole. Today, the prominence of signs such as Pizza Hut, Burger King, Domino's, are testament to a continuing North American domination of the country`s economy.
